Represented by multiple locations of UC Health, Advent Health, Kaiser Permanente, Sky Ridge Medical Center and Children’s Hospital as well as a multitude of Urgent Care, Medical Office Centers and independent service locations, employment and care opportunities are numerous and locally diverse.
Healthcare includes a large and diverse group of companies that provide preventive, curative, and rehabilitative services offered by healthcare providers, medical and specialty hospitals, kidney dialysis centers, other healthcare organizations, and centers focused on outpatient mental health and substance abuse, diagnostic imaging, and emergency care. Additionally, companies that provide nursing care, assisted living, and long-term care services for individuals, families, and the elderly are also included. Northwest Douglas County’s healthcare industry is resilient and has added workers every year since 2012 and is expected to continue to increase in the region due to a growing and aging population. The industry cluster currently includes about 440 healthcare companies with 3,440 workers.
Beyond physical well-being, the County is also committed to mental health. A decade ago, the Douglas County Mental Health Initiative (DCMHI) was established to unite community partners, address unmet mental health needs, connect people to mental health services and prevent those in need from falling through the cracks of the mental health system. Today, the initiative includes more than 50 organizations that are committed to offering mental health services and resources to the Douglas County community.
